SUMMER 2011

Summer is here. Been here a while now and the weather is swelteringly wonderful. Cold weather is fine if you're a polar bear or a penguin. But the balmy temps of Spring and the Summer heat is much more to my liking.

This issue brings a new member to Mysterical-E's staff: Barbara Hodges. Barbara will be doing most of the interviews from now on (though, as with this issue, there's always room for more and some of us will include an occasional interview). You can find Barbara's information on the Staff and Contributors page.

Welcome, Barbara.

And let it be known: if you want to be interviewed by Barbara, send her a note directly or send a request to me.

This Summer also brings the publication of an anthology I edited:

A Study in Lavender: Queering Sherlock Holmes

If you like Holmes and his world, this may be something for you. It gives new insights into the venerable characters.

Study in Lavender

Marco Fontana is still working his magic in Philly and he's loking forward to returning in further adventures.

Set against the drama of a tough primary campaign, this mystery centers around a murdered masseur, several wealthy clients, a violent ex, and a number of city power brokers.

Fontana must discover who would kill to keep the masseur quiet and why. Was the masseur about to reveal secrets that could ruin clients in show business and politics? Did he anger the wrong people as he went about building his business? Or was it an abusive ex boyfriend who could never give up?

After discovering a body on Pine Street, more victims turn up which compels Marco to face down lethal players and place his life on the line to find the forces behind the murders.
